What’s your value and worth?
Banks say it is based on your balance. Organizations say it is based on the value you add to their mission and vision. In real estate, it is based on property appraisals. But these are all relative. What is your true and absolute value and how is it determined?
Like a coin, the true value of every human life is based on the same two factors: rarity and composition.
What’s your rarity? God has given you a specific blend of both intrinsic and extrinsic qualities which no other human has ever possessed. He made a mold specifically for you. After you were made, He shattered that mold into pieces and never used it again for anyone else in all human history. I’d say you are rare indeed.
What’s your composition? Do you realize that you have the same ingredients and configuration as God Himself? You were made in His image, an image distinctly different than any other creature in all creation. You actually look a lot like the God that spoke the universe and stars into existence!
How valuable are you, really? Others may see you as worthless. You may too. But, in the final analysis, there is only one opinion that truly matters: God’s.
The price that someone is willing to pay for something establishes its value, not the person trying to sell it. For example, suppose you are selling your car. You will never sell your car for the value you think it’s worth. In the end, it will be sold for the price the buyer was willing to pay.
If the eternal son of God loved you so much to buy you with the price of His own life on a wooden Cross, what does that say about the personal worth and value He assigns to your life?
Think about it…
