The Gospel
“Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,” – 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
Notes:
This is that which we have heard from the beginning; that Jesus of Nazareth died for the sins of this world, according to what was written beforehand in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms, and that God raised Him back to life three later. After He was resurrected, He was seen by over 500 brethren, and taught on the Kingdom of God for 40 days. He then ascended into heaven itself, and lives, even at this moment, because death has no more dominion over Him. Oh what power and what grace! The Apostle Paul says that we are to continually hold fast to this word, and it is by this word, that we are saved. This is because all the blessings of God flow out from the cross, and are received by faith.
Willing to Take the Challenge?
In this letter to the Corinthians, Paul was writing to born again, Spirit filled believers. But yet, he shares the gospel with them once again. Why? It is because the gospel is meant to be the central theme of a believer’s life. In Revelations 5, while in Heaven, thousands upon thousands of angels surround the God’s throne singing “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain…” The Gospel is never forgotten, and will continue into eternity. Not only on Easter, but everyday celebrate the Gospel, making Him and His Word the primary source of your life and your hope.
