The Fruit of the Spirit

The Fruit of the Spirit

The Fruit of the Spirit

Posted by Wes Anderson Faith

“ But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” – Galatians 5:22-23

Notes:

Through my failures and feeble attempts in the past to manufacture the fruit of the Spirit in my own efforts, I have learned a valuable lesson that maybe could help you in your walk with our Lord.

First, you must answer honestly the following questions:

  1. Does it seem difficult or near impossible to love folks?
  2. Is there a lack of joy and peace in your life?
  3. Do you find yourself at times out of control, intolerant, or being impatient with others?

If you answered yes to these questions, then you need to know that the amount of time you spend intimately with Christ each day is proportional to the level in which the fruit of the Spirit is produced in your life.  In order for us to love others as Jesus commanded, we must have His love continually flowing through us, and in order to have His love continually flowing through us, we must spend time intimately with Jesus every day. For it is the Spirit that connects us with Him.

Some of the most miserable people in the world today are not those that are wild heathens, but those that are Christians that have learned by shear might to abstain from the “carnal sins of the flesh”, yet have a mound of bitterness and anger inside them.  This is because they have asked God to change the way they dress or to stop drinking, while neglecting to ask Him to change their hearts.

Something is wrong when we can walk out a two hour church service on Sunday morning but in the car on the way home curse and have bitterness toward our spouses.  There must be then that work which the Spirit does deep on the inside of us that allows us to walk in true love daily. The fruit of the Spirit is simply a description of this process.

Willing to Take the Challenge?

Keep yourselves in the Love of God. Get acquainted with Him for a significant amount of time every day.  There are many people in this world that need God’s Son in you. Get to know Him, to know Him is eternal life.  In the precious time you spend intimately with Him and the Spirit, you will experience His love, light and grace, and when you do, spread it like a wildfire across this world.
