Speaking with Grace
Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.
-Colossians 4:5-6
Notes:
Wisdom on the inside manifests itself on the outside primarily through our speech; how we speak, when we speak, and what we speak. For wisdom is only justified by her children.
The passage above says that one of the primary ways to conduct ourselves toward outsiders (unbelievers) is controlling and using godly wisdom with our words. As in the passage above, we can lose opportunities to share the gospel of Jesus Christ if our life and speech is the same as the world’s because to them, we are no different. As unbelievers ask a reason for the hope that is in us, and why we act and live differently, our response should be seasoned with grace and the Love of Jesus.
Willing to Take the Challenge?
The loudest way you can proclaim the gospel is with your life. As you do this, opportunities will be presented to you to share in wisdom the reason for your hope. There should be something in you that proclaims to others that the Christ truly has been raised, and there is an availability of power and grace to those who follow Him.
