In the Stillness
“Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” The LORD of hosts is with us; -Psalms 46:10-11
Notes:
I believe there is a word that the Lord is trying to get through to His Church, and the word is “stillness”. In the age and culture that we live in, we are almost entirely dependent upon noise. The more we hear it, the less satisfied we become. We have the tendency to gage our level of relationship and maturity with the Lord by how much worship music we listen too, how many church services we go to, or how often we pray. However, although these are not bad things, we will never be able to substitute His inner work inside of us by our own works. It is Him alone that changes us, and not ourselves. It is not by might, nor by power, but by His Spirit. When we cease trying to be the “Christian of the year” and simply, in the stillness of the moment, yield our hearts and lives to His presence, He then begins to work in our hearts and minds, changing us in the inner man by His grace from one shade of glory to the next. This is where our strength is derived. Our strength is in the place of quietness and stillness with God:
“Therefore have I cried concerning this, Their strength is to sit still.” -Isaiah 30:8.
“For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength….”- Isaiah 30:15

When the day has passed you by, and thoughts begin to race through you mind as you lay your head on your pillow, remember the scripture below:
Commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. –Psalms 4:4
The Lord most often speaks to us in the stillness of the moment, and not the thunderous noises of our lives. It is in these times that we shall say “The Lord of hosts, is with us”.
