Laying the Foundation
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit.
-Hebrews 6:1-3
Notes:
Whenever God desires for something to be built, He provides the blueprints to those whom He has called to do the building work. When God told Noah to build an ark, He gave him the instructions on size, material, etc. as explained in Genesis Chapter 6. When God told Moses to build the Tabernacle and the furniture for it, He gave him detailed instructions for the pattern he was to follow. Read the details in Exodus Chapters 25 through 27.
In the passage above, God outlines the exact materials for us to build our foundation of Christ on. For the next few days if God wills, we will be studying in detail about each of these foundational principles to integrate in our walk.
Willing to Take the Challenge?
If you try to construct a building on an unbalanced or unfinished foundation, progress will be slow and the overall maturity of the building will be hindered greatly. In the same way, as we are the building of God (1 Corinthians 3:9), our maturity in the Lord can be hindered if the foundational principles underlined in the passages above have not been laid correctly in our lives. Are you intimately familiar with the above principles? If not, consider prayerfully studying them along with me for the next few days.
